Ubuntu Freedom | UFree Digital Platform Effective Date: 4/24/2025 Last Updated: 3/9/2026
Who We Are
Ubuntu Freedom is a movement infrastructure organization rooted in the principle that our freedom is bound together. We build tools, spaces, and systems that support collective liberation — including the UFree Digital Platform, Church of the Revolution, Seed & Harvest, and Care Space Project.
This privacy policy applies to ubuntufreedom.com, the UFree app, and all Ubuntu Freedom initiatives and digital properties, including those currently in development. When we say “we,” “us,” or “Ubuntu Freedom,” we mean the organization and all of its projects.
We wrote this policy in plain language because we believe you deserve to understand exactly how your information is handled — not just technically, but in terms of what it means for your safety and your work.
A Note on Digital Security and Organizing
We want to be direct with you: if Ubuntu Freedom is doing its work well, this platform may attract attention from forces that oppose liberation movements.
Digital tools — including ours — are not neutral. Surveillance of Black, Indigenous, and social justice movements is well-documented and ongoing. While we are committed to protecting your data to the best of our ability, no digital platform can guarantee complete security from state surveillance, data requests, or sophisticated adversaries.
We encourage every user, particularly those engaged in frontline organizing, to:
- Use strong, unique passwords and enable two-factor authentication when available
- Be thoughtful about what you share in any digital space
- Familiarize yourself with digital security resources designed for activists and organizers (such as those offered by the Electronic Frontier Foundation and Security in a Box)
- Consult with a trusted security practitioner if your work carries elevated risk
We are not trying to discourage your participation — we are inviting you into a relationship of honest, eyes-open care for one another.
What Information We Collect
Information You Give Us
When you create an account or use UFree and other Ubuntu Freedom platforms, you may provide:
- Account information — your name, email address, and password
- Profile information — any details you choose to add to your profile
- Content you create — posts, messages, comments, and other material you share through the platform
- Communications — messages you send to us directly
Information We May Collect in the Future
As Ubuntu Freedom’s platforms grow and develop, we may also collect:
- Location information — if you opt into location-based features (we will always ask your permission first)
- Payment information — if you make donations or purchases through our platforms (this will always be processed through a secure payment system, and we will update this policy when that feature is active)
We will notify you and update this policy before collecting any new categories of information.
Information Collected Automatically
When you use our platforms, we may automatically receive basic technical information such as your device type, browser, and general usage patterns. We use this only to understand how to improve the platform for our community.

We use your information to:
- Operate and maintain the UFree platform and other Ubuntu Freedom digital tools
- Connect you with community members, resources, and opportunities aligned with our mission
- Send you updates about Ubuntu Freedom’s work (you can opt out at any time)
- Improve our platforms based on how they are being used

We do not use your information to advertise to you, sell you products, or profile you for commercial purposes. That is not who we are.
How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your data. We do not trade it. It is not a commodity.
We may share your information only in the following limited circumstances:
- Service providers — We may work with trusted third-party services (such as hosting providers or payment processors) that help us operate our platforms. When we do, we require that they handle your data responsibly and use it only to support our work. We will name specific providers in future updates to this policy as our infrastructure develops.
- With your consent — We may share information when you have explicitly asked us to.
- Legal obligations — If we are legally required to disclose information — for example, in response to a valid court order or subpoena — we will comply with the law. Where permitted, we will attempt to notify you before doing so. We want you to understand that this means your information is not immune to legal process, and to make your choices accordingly.
We will update this section as our third-party relationships develop. You will always be able to find the current version of this policy on our website.

You have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Correct any inaccurate information

Our platforms are not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with their information, please contact us and we will delete it.
